Iowa City has started to formulate plans for fully reopening its downtown area. However, a survey of the stores downtown shows that some business owners are considering selling or closing. Christmas
This years Christmas was not different from the rest of my Christmas'. Every year it is usually just me my sister and my parents at home because my family lives in Iowa. Occasionally my aunt will come over for Christmas but that is really all we do for Christmas. In the end Christmas was not different this year. -

After a lot of protests, the protesters and the government in Des Moines, Iowa sat down and talked things out. As of today they seem to still be trying to work things out, but I am not sure. I do know that they sat down with each other several times. -

Iowa Coronavirus
I live in Des Moines, Iowa. We have never had an official state lockdown. Our state is currently one of the highest numbers of positive cases out of all of America. This photograph shows one of the drive through testing areas we have. Iowa still does not have a mandatory mask law/mandate. Our numbers are still rising. However, if you visited here you almost would not know it. It is almost as if life has gone on the same way. -

Polling Places Are Closing Due To COVID-19.
The surge of COVID-19 cases across the United States has impacted voting across the country. Not only are some people afraid to vote in person but people are afraid of working at polls, resulting in a shortage of polls workers. Because of poll closures, people are being forced to find new polls. Low-income are being impacted by these closures due to the time it takes to find new polls and the cost of reaching them. Minorities are also impacted because they already faced longer than average wait times before COVID-19 when all polls were open. -

After two consecutive years with record attendance, the momentum of the Iowa State Fair has come to a screeching halt due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
