Cheryl Oral History, 2021/12/12
Cheryl is just one of my many Eau Claire County residents who have been experiencing the many issues of COVID in the nursing home environment. But what makes Cheryl’s story unique is that throughout this pandemic she has seen three different outbreaks within her facility and just recently experienced Covid for the first time earlier this month. However, Cheryl claims that thanks to COVID nursing homes, especially her current facility, will never resort back to normal. Much like her potential to engage in therapy, COVID has halted many aspects of Health care’s motivational tone and instead turned into an isolation facility. Through her limited experiences with staff and her few conversations with family and her roommates, Cheryl has hit rock bottom a few times. Yet through her love of the holidays and association with such a supportive family, Cheryl continues through, what she predicts, to be the next major virus that will never leave. -

Isolation Bingo – HIST30060
This game of bingo is an example of many of the online activities which were introduced as a form of entertainment during the various lockdown periods. Separated from friends and wider communities for long periods of time, innovative methods were necessary in order to encourage continued connection and interaction. This particular game is targeted towards members of the Ormond community, and refers to a number of specific scenarios that many residents would have experienced. While some are related to a ‘non-COVID’ semester at Ormond (such as ‘Survived O Week’ or ‘Got lost in Main Building’), many relate to the lockdown experience (like ‘Kept your camera on for an entire uni zoom tute’). In reminding readers of familiar scenarios, this seeks to inspire a continued relationship between members of the institution, and to reduce feelings of isolation. HIST30060. -

Quarantine Bingo
I created this art journal page in June of 2020. It's a bingo card and each square represents an aspect of the pandemic, from popular shows at the time to trends to ways our lives changed. -

BEEP-O!: Drive-in bingo helps Cornwall non-profits get back on their feet
"It's nothing to be concerned about, however. A woman sitting in a silver sedan at the Cornwall Bingo Centre parking lot has gotten a bingo, notifying staff with a short honk." -

Bingo Time
During the first few days of quarantine, it became an Instagram trend for organizations or people to make these bingo cards and fill them out on their story. Almost everyone I followed participated in different kinds. Created a sense of community. -

Ineffective Face Mask Bingo
Following the popular meme/comic format of bingo cards, this comic illustrates the numerous ineffective/wrong ways people are wearing face masks in public. The original caption on instagram reads "For all my retail worker friends, what we see on a daily basis... I long for the day I dont hit a blackout card before lunch. Wear it right or stay home x.x" It demonstrates the lack of information or care taken by members of the public even when they do wear face covers. It also demonstrates the frustration and fear felt by workers forced to interact with these individuals and feel they are put at risk as a result. *Christine Ridgway, @skidarstudios on instagram *comic/instagram post
