(HIST30060) An Exhibition I Created at University
After a year as subeditor, I was lucky enough to be appointed the 2021 editor of Chariot, the undergraduate history journal at the University of Melbourne. As an initiative to raise student engagement and make history more interesting, I worked with the university staff and one of our previous contributors of the journal in turning her essay into an exhibition in the university's Arts West building. Unfortunately, due to the lockdown, I was unable to see the exhibition in person myself, but the experience of putting it together from start to finish was a hugely rewarding one. -

Van Gogh Exibit
It's not an exaggeration to say the new Van Gogh exhibit is an immersive experience. The projectors cover the walls and floor in vibrant psychedelic brush strokes that are constantly in movement, cycling through paintings like The Starry Night, Bedroom in Arles and his self-portraits. IAIA 2020 Graduating Senior Virtual Exhibition
Every semester the IAIA campus hosts an exhibition for the graduating seniors. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic the campus was closed and everything moved to an online format. Determined to show the work, the graduating seniors worked with their instuctors, advisors and the gallery director to organize and execute a virtual exhibition. The show was designed and created with the Ortelia software. Although they did not get to exhibit the work in person this interactive exhibition did return some normalcy to the gallery exhibition space. -

Life In Isolation: The Coronavirus... Amber Gowen 2
An instacart screenshot seems most apt as I navigate how to figure out how to get the largest amount of needed items in the fewest outings with limited contact with people this pay period. Trying to stay safe and healthy against and invisible enemy that seems tailor made to target your weaknesses and living with people who are still required to go into work is a feeling unprecedented anxiety and vulnerability. -

With exhibition and performance spaces shuttered, artists are relying on the generosity of patrons.
"caring for those sick with Covid-19 and preventing others from becoming so remains the priority in New York City, as in the rest of the country. But how can we look out for others particularly affected by the crisis? Citywide closures of nonessential services have devastated the arts at every level: Exhibition and performance spaces have shuttered indefinitely, and thousands of New Yorkers working in creative industries, many of them freelancers, have seen their livelihoods disappear with no assurances about when they’ll be able to work again." Artists are struggling and this article demonstrates some things that can be done to help. -

St. Louis Exhibit Opening Cancellation
The Museum of History and Holocaust Education was supposed to open a new traveling exhibit entitled The Tragedy of the St. Louis on Tuesday, March 24, 2020. The exhibit tells the story of the German luxury liner, the St. Louis, which was carrying over 900 refugees from Germany when it was turned away at Havana Harbor in Cuba. The museum curator as well as members of the Simon family, featured on the exhibit panels, were going to speak at the opening event, including Mrs. Ruth Simon Heinemman, a kindertransport survivor and Kennesaw, Georgia, resident. https://historymuseum.kennesaw.edu/exhibitions/traveling/st-louis.php
