Transgender Atheist Army of the Anti-Christ (Staged by Joe Biden)
Apparently, according to a pastor, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris (who have a history of mistreating LGBTQ+ people are their rights) are building an atheist army for the Anti-Christ full of transgender individuals. Humorously someone decided to accompany this headline with an image of people in maid costumes at war, adorned with a transgender pride flag on a tank with guns. -

Hard Working Mom
This picture is not only important to me, but as well as my family. My mom is a nurse at Centennial Hills Hospital and has had to endure a lot throughout this pandemic; this flag was a gift from a fellow family member as a way to say thank you for all of her hard work. Having a mom as a nurse has always been difficult, weird and long work hours calls for less time to spend with family, nonetheless I am proud to say that my mom and her team have been put through the ringer and made it out okay. The government has called for all new protocol within the hospital to keep everyone as safe as they can. My mom and her team continue to keep working hard despite all the challenges they and the hospital as a whole have been through. -

Approaching another Civil War?
A friend took this picture of her neighbors’ house. It’s a duplex shared by two families- one that supports Trump and one that supports Biden. It’s hard to ignore the feeling of impending civil war here in the US these days. The political polarization only continues to get worse. It’s starting to seem like no matter what the result of the Nov 2020 election is, this division will not be remedied. Perhaps the worst part is that preserving the union doesn’t even seem as important as escaping “the other half.” The only thing that makes me want to work to keep the country together (not that I can make much difference) is the fact that there are vulnerable folks living in Red states who would be made even more vulnerable if the Blue states left the union or joined Canada or whatever other flippant solutions are bandied about. -

Correctional Sergeant Dies from Covid Complications
This Tweet expresses the lack of concern for the incarcerated people dying from Covid 19. California Governor Gavin Newsom expresses his sympathy for the family and friends of one of the correctional facility staff who recently passed from complications due to Covid-19 but he does not mention the many people incarcerated in these facilities who have also died from Covid-19. -

A Country In Tatters
Taken after a series of thunderstorms swept through Wichita, Kansas, in mid-July, 2020, this image strikes a symbolic parallel to the feelings and emotions felt by countless Americans during the pandemic crisis of 2020. Ravaged by the perfect storm of a ravenous and lethal virus, racial unrest, a hobbled economy, and a contentious election cycle, the United States of 2020 appeared to be a country in tatters amidst a sea of confusion, uncertainty, and partisan strife. -

Covered Store Front
I liked how this picture captured a lot of current events. The signs showing support for the Black Lives Matter movement, the pride flag and the boarded up building encompasses a lot of what is happening right now. -

The Flag of Masks
This is an image used by the company Facearmour which was a company that transformed itself from a printing press to a mask-making factory in the midst of the pandemic. The photo was used to promote their Memorial Day and Fourth of July packs however I believe that it also represents how America was at the time. Everywhere you went you saw masks. It was a nation of masks. -

Yard Sign and Nova Scotia Flag in Condolence for Mass Shooting
While in many respects the world has come to a halt in the midst of the pandemic, there are some events of significance which are only tangentially related to the virus. On April 18th and 19th, 2020, the worst mass shooting in Canadian history was committed across several locations in the province of Nova Scotia. As all provinces remained in some degree of lockdown or a state of emergency, the normal mass gatherings, protests, and expressions of grief which would normal follow such a tragedy were impossible. Indeed, the victims could not even have the funerals well attended by the community and media which would previously have occurred. Instead, the outpouring of national grief was largely restricted to digital communication and small physical memorials. Local schools and government buildings lowered their flags to half mast for a week. Several houses in my neighbourhood put printed-out Nova Scotia flags in their windows as an acknowledge. This larger flag was attached to an existing poster-board and wood sign urging others to “Be Kind” and “Stay Safe” took on a whole new meaning. No longer was it just espousing patience and understanding in a time where blame is leveled against individuals and groups, and to stay healthy. Now it promotes the added message of peace (kindness) following violence, and safety when that is not true. The communal grieving process which would follow violence on the scale of that which occurred in Nova Scotia still occurred, but it looked very different. -

Let a Smile Be Your Calling Card
Hanging in the window of a home in a west Wichita neighborhood, this smiley-face flag remained a constant fixture throughout the state-ordered lockdown. Its owners removed it after May 4, when state officials began easing lockdown restrictions. -

Flag Celebrates High School Graduation, New Orleans, LA
A flag hangs outside someone's home celebrating the graduation of a student from McKinley High School. During the Covid-19 stay-at-home order, students will not be able to attend graduation or host large parties to celebrate their graduation. This flag is a creative way to recognize the graduate's accomplishments publicly. -
