Lone Star Covid Archive
This text is important to me because it tells me how hard life was during the pandemic. Everything was just restricted and I was not able to do the things I wanted to do. I signed up for flag and it was my first ever time playing football but when Covid hit or submission got canceled. Looking back at this moment in time helps me think that life is better than it has seemed before. -

College During a Pandemic
Friday, March 13th, 2020 I received an email from President Favazza of Saint Anselm College that the whole campus was being shut down and we had until Sunday to move out of our dorm rooms and go home. We stayed in lock down for months- zoom, tiktok, family, boredom, walks, and eating are what my days consisted of. We got an email that we would be returning to campus in August we new protocols- masks, family units, hybrid classes. We did not care about the rules, we were just happy to be back and see new people. We got sent home second semester of our freshman year, what we thought would last a couple of weeks has now infected more than a year of our college experience. Masks, remote learning, social distancing, and COVID testing is our new normal. The photo above shows my friends and I on the Alumni quad at Saint Anselm College. It was a summer Friday night and we were trying to make the most of our time at college. My friends and I often spent a lot of our time outside. We ate lunch on the quad, spent our weekends on the quad, and did our classes outside. We realized that we needed to make the most of being outside because we had been locked inside for 3 months. We adapted to a huge change in what is supposed to be the best years of our lives. -

Making Adjustments
One thing that everyone and everything shared in common during this pandemic is the ability to being forced to adapt to the situation or fail in its path. The most important thing that was forced to have to adjust was all schooling. It made all schooling forced to have to figure out how to get their students the education they have been paying for. many schools sent out emails to their students giving them options on how to access their classes and educational resources. Of course online being really the only option for college courses universities that were not comfortable with the online process were forced to learn how to adapt to their students needs. It was just on thing that they had to get comfortable with and eventually everyone was up to speed on the process and things began to smooth out. -

What should the school year of 2020-2021 mean for Cal High’s students?
The Californian, a student run newspaper at California High School in San Ramon, recently ran the story "What should the school year of 2020-2021 mean for Cal High's students?" The story features three student articles, each advocating for a different scenario. The first discusses returning to school full time, the second champions a hybrid learning model, and the third article evaluates fully remote online learning. All of the articles address the challenges and realities of education during the COVID-19 pandemic for students. Interestingly, none of the articles discuss the impact of these models on teachers.
