Shop Local to Support Local
As COVID-19 spread across the country, many small businesses have been battling to stay afloat. My family restaurant was one of the ones affected by all the changes in regulation that were put in place due to COVID-19. Some of the regulations were tough and challenging for businesses especially those who mainly relied on dine in. Luckily for us, our community is very supportive, and they continued to purchase take-out from us. I’m very fortunate that we were able to stay open, but many businesses had to shut down permanently which is devastating especially in a small town of entrepreneurs. -

Many of these images represent literal signs of the time, while others figuratively depict signs of the pandemic. -

Twitter post from the Boston Public Library that highlights a new, socially distanced printing service that they are offering to the community. Order take out food, get free toilet paper

As restaurants tried to quickly shift to pick up and deliver as their only options for remaining open many got inventive with how to attract customers. This restaurant, on the square in Georgetown, Texas, like many others, offered customers a free roll of toilet paper with their take out order. -

Petsmart moves pick up orders to curbside
Being an employee of Petsmart, I have seen changes in the way that we operation on a daily basis. One example is how we do online pick up orders. On March 21, 2020, we moved all online pick orders to curb side pick order. Pet parents pull in to the designated parking spot, call the store, and then the associate that was designated the curbside pick up orders for the day, would answer the phone. We must ask for their name and then indicate on the iPad that they have picked up their order. We have started doing this to lower the foot traffic in the store. This is something that not only us as employees have to get use to but the pet parents as well.
