Retiring Betsy for Alani
This was the time my mother, brother, and myself came home with a brand new truck during the Pandemic. It was by far my favorite memory of the pandemic because not only was it the family's first ever brand new vehicle, but it was my first car purchase as well. We had an old hunk of junk 2001 Mercedes Benz SUV that was falling apart on us, which we nicknamed Betsy. She served us well as a reliable SUV, but my family and I had talked at length over the course of months that we needed a new car but couldn't possibly imagine actually getting on, especially during the microchip shortage of 2020-2021. Somehow it happened, and it will always be my favorite memory of the pandemic. Why is it called Alani? Alani in Hawaiian means Orange, and that's pretty much the main feature of the truck. A giant orange pumpkin with wheels. -

Mobile Morgue
Eastern Washington and other small towns in Washington are having so many extra deaths from Covid, they are having to bring in refrigerator trucks to store the bodies before they can be buried. This information is still not enough for some people to get vaccinated and try to stop the spread of Covid. Many areas, like in Wenatchee where this article originated, are struggling to keep up with the influx of unvaccinated sick people and are having an even harder time trying to find a place to put their bodies. -

Covid-19
As my primary source I decided to choose a picture from the NY Daily News, and it was published on Apr 09, 2020 at 1:17 pm by Gardiner Anderson. I selected this picture, because in my opinion it has the ability to show how badly the Corona virus affected New York city and the entire world. This image documents how there were so many people dying from the Covid-19 virus and how there was not enough space in the morgue to keep the bodies. The situation was so horrible that people were dying alone in the hospitals without their family members in their bed side. Let’s stop for a minute and think how difficult it is to know your family member is in the hospital dying alone, and you cannot go to the hospital and hold their hand for them not to feel alone while they take their last breath. This was never seen before, at least not in the United States. Historians will have the chance to see how Covid-19 did not just affect the economical part of my community and the entire world, but how it also affected the people in a psychological level. While a lot of people was died during Covid- 19. A lot of people lost their jobs, and they did not have money to buy food. Also, a lot of people did not have money to pay their rental or bills. While this people were going through a financial crisis, maybe member of their family was in the morgue or hospital or maybe they were in quarantine because they had Covid-19. What it means for this picture to be in the newspapers is how big was the impact of Covid-19. It shows how bad the situation was at the moment. Millions of hospitals did not have space in the morgue. Therefore, it connects to the picture because it shows how they had to deposit the corpses in the refrigerated trucks. I selected this source because I want historians of the future to understand what was going on at the time. The readers are going have the chance to see with their own eyes what was going on at the time. They can see how horrible the virus was. In other words, this picture will explain and demonstrate what was going on at the time. For me to see this image during the pandemic was very hard and traumatizing because I felt so bad to see how they deposited corpses in the trucks. When I saw this image, I thought about my father and my friend because they had Covid-19, and they were in the hospital. I was nervous because I did not know what was going on with them if they were going to die or survive. At the same time, I was nervous because the economy was falling, and my family and others were being affected. My family was forced to reduce the amount of food we were eating. While my father and friend were at the hospital and my sister and brother were not working. Just my mother and me were working. We needed to pay the rent, buy food, and pay bills while my sister and brother were waiting for unemployment. My mother and I were forced to continue working during the pandemic to support our family. Every time I went to work, I was extremely scared about getting the virus and getting my family sick, especially my sister was pregnant at the moment. In the other hand I was worried about my father and friend who were fighting to survive Covid-19. Sadly, my friend died, but my father survived, and I am grateful he was able to survive this horrible virus. I just do not want to focus on how my family was affected, but how this virus affected the entire world. A lot of people died, some people did not have enough money and were waiting for unemployment, other were not even able to get unemployment and other people were not able to visit their family members who were sick in the hospital. This pandemic was catastrophic. -

Online School
Wat uup journal. I bought a truck. We named it republican truck because there is a national rifle association sticker on the windshield. There was also a sticker of a crazy man who looked like bob ross on meth. I decided to take that one off though because it was not appealing to look at. Today I helped marcus lemon win a game of kahoot in Mrs Gangos class. However lemon won under the name keith hurdle because keith needed the extra credit. Together we got every single question right, however keith wasn't even in the zoom call. It surprised us that Mrs Gagnon did not realize anything was wrong. Lemmon and I just went to walmart and then ate raw kool aid. It was hella good. It's like fun dip but instead of a dipstick i dip my finger. This was during online school because of covid. -

A Rest From Reality
As someone who worked 3 jobs in high school, was in 10 clubs, and took AP and honors classes, high school was a never-ending to-do list. I never stopped moving, so quarantine felt like the rest I desperately needed to get to know myself. I had never just done nothing or had the chance to do things simply because I wanted to. After a few months of sleeping in past noon and eating ice cream for breakfast, I ended up learning how to paint which became something I could do just because I enjoyed it, and I had never had that before. -

The New Normal
I uploaded pictures as to how the COVI19 has impacted my everyday life. The first picture shows me working out of my room because we are all working from home now and this is the quietest place in my home. I basically do everything from my room now, sleep, work and eat, it really doesn’t feel like my sanctuary anymore. The second picture is with me and my children around the kitchen table. I feel like I am losing my sanity because I now play many different roles such as: teacher, employee, student and mother. It is hard for me to hold everything together nowadays but there is no other option. This is the new normal and we are trying to get better acquainted to it. I included a picture of my children waving to their great grandmother from our truck. In the beginning of COVID19 my children were not able to see their great grandmother because no one knew who may have the virus. We had to quarantine ourselves for about a month before my children were able to see their great grandmother. Me and my children are more appreciative of my grandmother now. We really did not pay attention to how much she meant to us until we weren't able to see her whenever we wanted to. The COVID19 pandemic has taught me to appreciate the things that I hold close to me like my family, friends, health and my job. I am very fortunate that no one near me has been infected with the virus and we are all healthy. I am very fortunate that I am able to work from home, still have my job and a roof over my head. My family is getting used to the new normal and everyday it does get easier. I just hope I still have my hair and my sanity by the end of this pandemic. -

And I looked and behold a pale horse...
A fuzzy, through the trees picture of my neighbor's white pick up truck the day after he was finally arrested for something ; the police are called there a lot. This truck is a dingy white and the springs squeak loudly when it bounces across the gravel driveway. The property has 2 trailers and 2 RV's and people come and go all day long. There is an 85 year old woman who lives in one of the trailers. The owner of this white truck is doing renovations on the property. He goes back and forth as if it is still an ordinary time, leaving the property 6,7,8 times a day, those springs squeaking down the drive. In Albert Camus' the Plague the Dr feels that he can hear the sound of the plague rats in the labored breathing of one of his patients. That truck's springs sound like the wheezing of the Coronavirus to me. I call it the Pale Horse. And he who rode upon it was Death. -

Modfied truck cruises through a street in Centelles, Catalonia, Spain playing music for the village's inhabitants.
The truck's volume and moving of lights would be inacceptable out of quarantine, but serves as entretainment during quarantine. -
