Empty Seating at Starbucks
I have been to this Starbucks a few times over the years. This is a Starbucks inside Target. When I went there years ago, there used to be seating available for people to enjoy their beverages at leisure. Due to COVID, those seats are gone. I hope they get brought back eventually, because while I don't order from Starbucks that often, it was a nice place to sit while waiting for other people to get done shopping. -

Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek. March 2020
A Campolindo HS photography class assignment was to take photos of some nearby location that tells a story. My senior decided to procrastinate and ended up needing to complete the assignment during the early days of quarantine. A trip to a normally very busy Broadway Plaza shopping center in Walnut Creek on a Saturday turned out to be the perfect location. The only people we saw out there was a man and his son riding bikes past this center fountain area. In one of the pictures, you'll see the Apple store in the distance, completely dark and vacant. It looks like a ghost town. It's not this vacant even on holidays recognized by retail stores. -

Empty School like a time capsule
Teachers in Fairfield were ordered to clean out their classrooms starting the week of May 18th. Entering the school looked like a time capsule with announcements for prom, spirit week, and senior field trips dating back to May 13th, the day before Sem Yeto continuation school was shut down. -

A Dark Green Mill In Daylight
The historic Green Mill Cocktail Lounge in Uptown, Chicago, has long been open from 12PM to 4AM 365 days a year: the marquee lights blaze in the daylight and twinkle invitingly once the sun goes down, and you can hear the faint blares of trumpets and saxophones. This bar has long been a haven from modern life for busybodies and music-lovers alike, where they can relax in the relic of the jazz age, myself included. For three years now, I have been going to the Green Mill every Tuesday after my bartending shift. However, Covid-19 has forced the bar to close its doors and to turn off its lights. Uptown feels lost without its guiding beacon, and its presence is one of the few aspects of regular life that I genuinely miss. #DePaulHST391 -

Empty community gathering space, Weaver Street Market, Carrboro, NC
This is a picture of a popular outdoor community gathering space in front of Weaver St. Market, a local co-op grocery, in Carrboro, NC. On any other beautiful Saturday morning, the tables pictured here would be crowded with people -- visiting, eating, drinking, working. Children would be running around, people would be walking by on the way to the nearby farmers' market. This is one of the busiest central gathering spots in Carrboro -- a small village adjoining Chapel Hill, NC, the home of the University of North Carolina. To see it vacant on what was a gorgeous, warm, spring Saturday is a breathtaking reminder of what coronavirus and its associated stay-at-home orders are doing to our beloved town and our lives together. -

Social Distancing and Quarantine Meme
This a meme that references the isolation brought on by social distancing practices. It pokes fun at the fact that many are currently staying at home and reminiscing about their former mobility and freedom.
