En esta entrevista Danitza Guzman Solano es entrevistada por Carmen Kordick Coury concerniente al covid-19 en Costa Rica. Danitza es una maestra, tiene 39 años y es de Heredia. Ella cuenta como cambio la dinámica de sus lecciones y lo difícil que se le hizo las clases virtuales. Habla de su familia, su burbuja familiar y las complicaciones que la pandemiaca le causo. Danitza también habla de su comunidad y su salud mental. Toca el asunto de xenofobia y problemas que ella ha visto que ha resultado por el virus. Danitza da sus opiniones de la inmigración y como ha afectado el país y la crisis del covid. Toca el tema de las noticias y donde ella se educa sobre los datos del covid. Danitza termina con los asuntos del uso de máscara, la economía de Costa Rica y sus deseos del futuro. -

Marin Munos Oral History, 2020/05/14
Marian Munos is a junior studying journalism and women’s, gender and sexuality studies at the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire. Marian participates in track and field and is originally from Illinois. She is working for the university while in Wisconsin. Marian’s mother is a principal and said that she didn’t want her to come home to avoid spreading Covid-19. Marian misses her teammates and family but is thankful that she can FaceTime her grandmother. Marian details that strangers have been kind during the pandemic and that she thinks we will come out of it closer than ever before Marian got very sick sometime in March with her roommate, but was unable to get tested because only those who had traveled abroad or come into contact with someone who had could get tested at the time. -

Conflict between Business and Social Distancing: Mayor's intervention blocks plan to open Bank Street to pedestrians
News article relaying that, after initial local support, city council and the mayor vetoed a plan to close some lanes of Bank Street, a major road, to traffic, to allow those walking on the sidewalk, especially when crossing the Bank Street Bridge over the Rideau Canal. would be able to maintain a 2 meter distance from one another. Local businesses were concerned with the reduction in traffic and roadside parking spaces this would cause, further reducing their business in an already difficult time. Post Office Safety Signs
Most businesses in Orange, CA closed when the governor first announced the stay at home order in mid-March. One of the businesses to stay open is the post office. It has become all the more important as people try to stay connected and still continue with daily life as best they can. The Post office has a number of safety measures put in place for their customers: signs like the picture above listed in about 8 languages, plexiglass dividers between postal worker and attendant, and signs on the floor to practice social distancing. *Original text in Contributor: Joey Dorion took the photograph -

Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians Forms COVID-19 Task Force to Ensure Financial Compliance with the CARES Act Funds
“The task force will ensure the Sault Tribe’s Coronavirus Relief Fund monies are spent in compliance with the CARES Act and the tribe’s priorities dealing with the ongoing pandemic. Sault Tribe received $37.2 million from the Coronavirus Relief Fund. According to the CARES Act language, tribes may use the money for "necessary" expenses caused by the public health emergency from March 1 to Dec. 30, 2020. The Sault Tribe established a unified approach that prioritized paying team members and recouping any losses that have occurred.” #IndigenousStories -

E X E C U T I V E O R D E R Continuing Temporary Suspension and Modification of Laws Relating to the Disaster Emergency WHEREAS, on March 7, 2020, I issued Executive Order Number 202, declaring a State disaster emergency for the entire State of New York; and WHEREAS, both travel-related cases and community contact transmission of COVID-19 have been documented in New York State and are expected to continue; NOW, THEREFORE, I, Andrew M. Cuomo, Governor of the State of New York, by virtue of the authority vested in me by Section 29-a of Article 2-B of the Executive Law to temporarily suspend or modify any statute, local law, ordinance, order, rule, or regulation, or parts thereof, of any agency during a State disaster emergency, if compliance with such statute, local law, ordinance, order, rule, or regulation would prevent, hinder, or delay action necessary to cope with the disaster emergency or if necessary to assist or aid in coping with such disaster, I hereby temporarily suspend or modify, for the period from the date of this Executive Order through June 13, 2020 the following: -
